Merlin is a South African who has lived in France for the greater part of his life. Passionate about languages as a native trilingual of Afrikaans, English and French, he aspires to learn many more. With his focus set on Fantasy Literature, he is currently writing a thesis on "The representations of Magic in Postmodern Anglophone Fantasy", which he wishes to pursue in a PhD dedicated to that same genre. He has a Bachelor's of English and an honours degree in Cultural Studies, specialising in English from the University of Caen, France.
He has worked as a language tutor since he entered his senior high school years, helping his peers with the English language in France.
With his fascination for literature and fantasy, Merlin has also self-published a few fantasy novels in both French and English.
He is currently supporting the French department at the University of Delaware as a Teaching Assistant and a tutor in the Language Resource Centre there.
