Alexander Selimov is Professor of Spanish & Latin American studies. His scholarship focuses on the intersection between literary, cognitive, and cultural studies. He teaches Spanish & Russian language, literature, and culture, including interdisciplinary courses on psychoanalytic & cognitive approaches to myth, literary theory & discourse analysis, identity fashioning, and music as political warfare. In addition to scholarly publications, he has published several poetry collections, and has been performing poetry in the US and overseas. He holds the title of "Universal Ambassador of Culture" awarded by UNESCO and the Bolivian Association of Writers. His poetry book "Desafío" won the 2018 Victoria Urbano Honorable Mention award and has been translated into Azeri Turkish, English and Russian.
