    Biography

Julia Hulings, Assistant Professor of Russian, teaches courses at all levels within the Russian Studies program. Her particular areas of interest include the movements of Realism, Naturalism, and Socialist Realism to include mainly prose of the mid-/late- nineteenth century through the 1950s. She also teaches courses in translation (FLLT 327- Russian and Soviet Literature and FLLT 375- Russian and Soviet Culture) that provide a good survey or overview of Russian literature, culture, and history for majors, minors or anyone who has an interest in things Russian. Her newest courses examined St. Petersburg in the literature and risk-taking behavior in the culture, and she hopes to develop a course on great pieces of literature in film. Professor Hulings serves as chair of the language within the department, as transfer-of-credit contact, as adviser to the campus Russian Club, as adviser to all Russian Studies majors and minors, and as adviser to the university chapter of the National Slavic Honor Society, Dobro Slovo.

For anyone with questions about the Russian Studies program or about the two Russian FLLT courses, Professor Hulings can be reached at hulings@udel.edu.
