9:30 – 10:30   Welcome; Introductions; What is expected of TAs at DLLC?

10:45 – 11:30   Communicative Language Instruction (overview of pedagogical principles for 100-level courses in French and Spanish)

11:30 – 12:30  Getting ready for the first week of instruction (meeting with Course Coordinators).

2:00 – 4:00     DLLC Academic orientation

Wednesday, August 24    Graduate Office Orientation  Clayton Hall

8:30 – 3:00     Orientation Program for all new full-time graduate students ending with ice cream social.  Students register their intent to attend.  Center for Teaching and Assessment of Learning (CTAL) orientation.

Thursday, August 25     Room 102 McDowell Hall

9:00 – 11:25      Departmental general orientation

                                            LUNCH BREAK

2:00 – 3:45        Meet the veteran TAs, Learn about lesson planning

                                        BREAK (15 minutes)

4:00 – 5:00       Introduction to the Language Proficiency Center

Friday, August 26

8:00 – 4:00       On-boarding for new funded graduate students not previously on-boarded, Perkins Student Center.

9:30 – 10:30      Office of International Students Orientation, Trabant University Center (mandatory for new international TA’s)

2:00 – 3:30        Presentation and discussion of lesson plans for the first week of classes – Room 102 McDowell Hall

Monday, August 29     100-level orientation
